New Clients After Summer: Prepare the Foundation Now (in May or June)

September is one of the busiest months for coaching inquiries. Coaches who prepared well in May and June handle that wave smoothly. Those who leave the preparation for August often start the autumn reactive and underprepared.

The foundation for a strong September is laid now.

Review Your Intake Process

Before you go into summer, read through your intake questions as if you were a potential client. Are they clear? Do they help you understand whether someone is a good fit? Are there questions you always end up asking in the first session that should be part of intake? A sharper intake saves you time and leads to better-matched clients.

Clarify Your Offer

What exactly do you offer to a new client who approaches you in September? How long is a standard program, what does it include, and what does it cost? If you cannot answer these questions in two sentences, your offer needs sharpening before the autumn influx. Clients who reach out in September are often ready to start. Ambiguity in your offer sends them elsewhere.

Reach Out to Former Clients

Some of your best September clients are people you already worked with. Before summer, consider a brief message to former clients checking in on how they are doing. Not a sales pitch, just a genuine follow-up. Some will be ready for another program. Most will appreciate the contact regardless.

Make Sure Your Information Is Accurate

Check that anything a potential client might read about you - your website, your profile, your bio - accurately reflects what you currently offer. If your practice has shifted, your public information should reflect that before September arrives.
